Mentorship, Supervision & Teaching
For me, there are few things as rewarding as encouraging the development of another's clinical style and therapeutic voice. I have enjoyed doing so in a variety of roles. These include:
- Offering clinical supervision to early career practitioners and those working towards licensure
- Providing graduate-level advisement and teaching to clinical psychology doctoral and social work students
- Helping to launch a new campus's Doctoral Psychology (Psy.D.) and Clinical Training program
- Co-founding and coordinating DC Psychological Association's Student Mentorship Program
- Serving on student dissertation committees; providing direct student mentorship
- Offering ongoing, clinically-oriented consultation for nonprofit agency staff both domestically and abroad
I remain forever grateful for the competent and caring supervision I received as I worked towards licensure, opened a private practice and explored different clinical roles. I still carry with me the professors and mentors who shared their journeys, inspired curiosity, modeled integrity and encouraged me to find my own unique clinical voice. I continue to value consultation with colleagues, as I believe safe and honest collaboration throughout the professional journey helps keep us sharp, honest and effective. I wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to pass along these gifts of supervision, mentorship and consultation to others.
